Summer air travel with the family can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) makes flying easy and convenient with its close proximity to I-95 and the Treasure Coast, extremely short TSA wait times and affordable parking. PBI has a great mix of airline carriers, both legacy and low-cost, making it the perfect choice for everyone looking to fly this summer.

“In addition to offering numerous flight options, ensuring an enjoyable travel experience that fits within the family budget is important at PBI,” according to Palm Beach County Director of Airports Laura Beebe.

“I encourage everyone to fly PBI and experience why this Airport continues to be recognized as South Florida’s favorite airport.” said Beebe. “Over the past 12 months, many airports have seen a record number of people booking flights. That is true of PBI as well, with almost 8 million passengers passing through the Airport in 2023.”

PBI is proud to be named the 4th Best Airport in the U.S. Condé Nast 2023 Readers’ Choice Awards. Voting is now open for the 2024 Condé Nast Reader’s Choice Awards. Cast your vote today at https://www.cntraveler.com/story/vote-readers-choice-awards.

PBI has also been recognized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection as having some of the shortest overall TSA wait times in the country. “Providing our passengers with an exceptional experience is our goal,” said Beebe. “We are currently renovating and expanding Concourse B to make the PBI experience even better.”

Phase One of the Concourse B project includes new restrooms and a brand new sit-down restaurant. The next phase will include the addition of two gates, expanded seating areas and a food hall. There will also be a sensory room to create a calming space for travelers with autism and other sensory sensitivities, as well as adult changing tables to accommodate the needs of disabled passengers and their caregivers.

Beebe said she expects PBI to have continued growth in the months to come.

A number of routes have been extended or added for the summer. Silver Airways has added nonstop flights to Nassau, Bahamas where you enjoy the beautiful island. Silver Airways is also servicing frequent nonstop flights to Tampa, home to the Busch Gardens Tampa Bay theme park, a great option for families.

Frontier Airlines is currently flying nonstop to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Breeze Airways is adding flights to Raleigh-Durham beginning June 21. American Airlines is extending service to Chicago O’Hare for the summer months too.

PBI has many nonstop flights to the northeast to visit destinations like New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Washington, DC. PBI also offers direct service to many airline hubs where connecting flights can take you to destinations around the world.

PBI was also named 8th Best Domestic Airport in Travel + Leisure Magazine’s 2023 World’s Best Awards. PBI is also proud to be named 4th Best Medium-Size Airport in the 2023 J.D. Power North America Airport Satisfaction Study.

“PBI offers the easiest passenger experience, meaning less travel time and more time at your destination,” Beebe said. “Many residents of the Treasure Coast can be at their gate in about an hour, making PBI a perfect option for everyone.”
