West Palm Beach, FL (March 31, 2026) — On March 30, 2026, Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation transferring to the State of Florida the authority to name major commercial service airports, including Palm Beach International Airport (PBI). Under the law, PBI will be renamed “President Donald J. Trump International Airport,” pending all required approvals, including Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) approval. The legislation affects only the airport’s name. Operations, ownership and governance by Palm Beach County, as the owner of PBI, remain unchanged. The law takes effect July 1, 2026.

The legislation does not change the airport’s code, PBI. Separate federal legislation regarding the code has been introduced. Any change would follow the FAA’s established review process.

“We remain committed to offering a safe, efficient and welcoming experience for all travelers,” said Palm Beach County Mayor Sara Baxter. “As the airport moves through this name change, it will continue to serve as the trusted gateway our community relies on.”

Transition activities, including updates to signage, branding and public‑facing materials, will occur in phases. A state appropriation to support these efforts may be provided, but it remains pending. Airport operations and services will continue without interruption. PBI appreciates the continued patience and support of its travelers throughout this transition.

“Our goal throughout this transition is to keep everything easy and familiar for our passengers,” said Director of Airports Laura Beebe. “Our team will be working behind the scenes to implement the required updates, and travelers will continue to enjoy the same smooth, convenient and friendly experience they expect.”
