Palm Beach International Airport becomes first GBAC STAR™ accredited airport in Florida

West Palm Beach, FL (August 20, 2020)- PBI achieves GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation, ensuring proper cleaning protocols, disinfection techniques, and work practices are in place to combat biohazards and infectious diseases.

As the second airport in the United States and the first airport in Florida to receive the GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation, PBI is proud to continue to provide passengers, guests, and employees a safe facility today and in the future.

This facility accreditation, which is administered by the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, properly equips PBI for effectively combating reoccurring biohazards or infectious disease risks.

“We are extremely pleased that PBI is the first airport in Florida and second in the United States to achieve GBAC STAR accreditation,” said Director of Airports for Palm Beach County, Laura Beebe. “Ensuring the health and safety of our customers, partners, and employees is our number one priority as an airport. The accreditation demonstrates PBI’s continued commitment to achieving the highest standards of cleaning, disinfection, and infectious disease prevention.”
