West Palm Beach, FL (April 13, 2026) — Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, in partnership with The Morganti Group and RS&H, celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Station 81 today.
The new facility will replace the existing ARFF station with modern resources, advanced equipment and enhanced technology to support rapid and effective emergency response at PBI.
“Safety is our top priority, and this new ARFF facility will give our Fire Rescue team the tools and space they need to respond quickly and efficiently,” said Palm Beach County Department of Airports Director Laura Beebe. “This project reflects our ongoing commitment to the highest standards of safety and service for passengers, employees and the community.”
“We cannot thank our partners at the Department of Airports enough for planning, and now building, the new Fire Station 81 with the safety of airport visitors and our firefighters at the forefront,” said Fire Rescue Administrator Chief Patrick J. Kennedy. “The new modernized fire station is located on airport property to enable a fast emergency response on the tarmac and inside the Palm Beach International Airport. The Department of Airports is consistently providing our Airport Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF) with innovation in equipment, most recently purchasing new Aircraft Firefighting Crash Trucks, known as Dragons, as well as the Cold Cut Cobra to extinguish electric vehicle fires and more. This is another prime example of how public safety is a priority for our Board of County Commissioners and County Administration.”
